Will I have to spend a lot of money on insulation?
When considering the cost of home insulation, many people are worried that it will be too expensive to justify. However, the long-term financial benefits that come with energy efficiency should not be overlooked; in addition to improved comfort and warmth, you can save a considerable amount on fuel every year.
In order to make it more attractive for homeowners to insulate their homes, various grants are offered by the government. The SEAI grant is just one example, covering a certain percentage of insulation costs along with other efficiency improvements.
Getting approved for this grant ensures the investment pays off over time. So it may not cost you a fortune after all if you decide to insulate your home! Furthermore, with government policy introducing carbon taxing for non-energy efficient homes, now is an ideal time to address any insulation needs you may have.
Individual Energy Upgrade
Some homeowners and landlords choose to manage their own home energy upgrades. This option is suitable for homeowners and landlords who wish to apply for individual energy upgrades like attic or wall insulation, and manage their own project. They can choose their own contractor, apply for the grant online, and claim the grant after works are completed.
Before proceeding to this grant, just make sure that your home is built and occupied before 2011 for the insulation and heating controls grant. And your home is built and occupied before 2021 for heat pumps and renewable systems.
